To the Editor:

The local council of the Knights of Columbus has been active in helping the community in many ways.  The council is one of the founding sponsors of the Mesquite Little League.  It also supports the Mesquite Chapter of the Special Olympics, the Mesquite Food Bank and the local chapter of the Salvation Army.  The Knights are affiliated with La Virgen de Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Many of their philanthropic activities are done in conjunction with the church.

The Knights are an active organization that is supported through various fundraising activities.  The annual fish fries are one of the Knights’ biggest events. This year will mark the fourth year that the Knights have put on the fish fry dinners.

The dinners will be held at the Mesquite Senior Center, 102 Desert Drive, behind the Mesquite Recreation Center.  This location is a new venue for us.  The previous fish fries have been so successful that we needed to move the event to a location that offered more space and capacity.

There are three Friday fish fry dinners scheduled this year: March 7, March 21 and April 4.  Dinner will be served from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Take-out dinners are also available.  The dinner includes a choice of fried catfish or cod, hush puppies, french fries, a beverage and our famous homemade coleslaw and homemade desserts.  The Fish Fries are open to the public.

Tickets may be purchased for a donation of $10 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under).  There also is a special promotion for families, “The Family Meal Deal”.  Parents and all their school age children (grades K–12) can have dinner for one low price of $25.  Tickets will be available from members of the Knights of Columbus or at the door on the days of the dinners. Come and enjoy a wonderful meal.
